United States
The 7 reasons to go to the United States!
United is a country full of paradoxes. Its cities reveal unparalleled modern architectures that are just a few hours from the wildest landscapes, where you can experience adventures in your tent or with your backpack on your back surrounded by well-preserved nature. In the country where most of them are immigrants, meeting someone new will always be a fascinating experience, as this town offers much more than the stereotypes associated with it.
Find inspiration
The United States has been inspired by its territory, its nature and its cities much more than any other national literature. This is certainly not the case just because the country has wanted to form an identity, but also because its landscapes, of unique beauty and grandeur, are a source of inspiration. More than anywhere else, in the national parks the view is lost as far as the horizon and one can calmly meditate. Just like Ansel Adams photographed Yosemite or Henry Miller made Big Sur his haven, you too can find the inspiration you need in familiar landscapes or the urban monotony of cities.
Partying: don't miss the music!
In the big cities, the culture of party and popular music shines like nowhere else. In New York, the city that never sleeps, the bars and theaters host groups or comedians every night. In Chicago, the blues party is a tradition that lives on, as it does in New Orleans, where jazz concerts and parades compete to make you enjoy a festive atmosphere. Even in Austin, a lost city in central Texas, the music scene is everywhere. If you like to party, this is your country.
Discover very diverse cultures
The diversity of the United States is an essential element of its wealth. Most of the big cities have a Chinatown, southern cities usually have a Mexican one, like Mission in San Francisco; and sometimes some cities can even have a European one, as in New Orleans, where much of the French cultural heritage is preserved. Going from one neighborhood to another, sometimes we have the impression of changing countries, as we discover a new culture and cuisine, and its inhabitants make us participate in everything. In some of the national parks, it is the Amerindian culture that allows itself to be discovered despite the dark history that weighs on the country. Examples of this are the Monument Valley, located in Navajo territory, or Mesa Verde.
Go in search of adventure
Thanks to the conservation of nature and the vast expanse of the country, the United States is a propitious place for adventure. If you go into any large space that is far from civilization, you will see how easy it is to isolate yourself from chaos and stress with just a tent and a backpack on your back. In Yosemite, for example, mountain hiking tours are great for long hikes, and you can also camp as long as you watch out for bears. Something less extreme, but also offering almost the same level of freedom is taking a road trip along the Pacific coast. And you will not need a hotel, because going camping is the order of the day. Your adventure will depend solely on you.
A feeling of ecstasy at the beauty of the landscapes
Whether you have grown up watching westerns or reading American novels or not, the wonderful landscapes of the national parks will amaze you. And it is that these are the jewel in the crown of the United States, because its citizens like to be associated with this idea of large spaces; in addition, they attract many tourists. Despite the mythological aspect, the landscapes of the parks are no less beautiful in Yosemite, Yellowstone or in the Smoky Mountains or Everglades, to the southeast. Nature is very well preserved and fauna, in addition to being abundant, can be seen quite well with binoculars. The fame of these large open spaces has its origin in the cinema.
Meet a welcoming town
Americans are generally very welcoming, and many who start a conversation with you on their own feet will be happy to invite you to dinner at their table or welcome you under their roof. It is true that friendship relations are somewhat more superficial than in Spain, but it is precisely this that makes them very generous, since it is a disinterested generosity. North Americans have a reputation for being more outspoken than South Americans, but it is already known that stereotypes never do justice and in this case, much less. A positive attitude and an open mind are always things that catch on right away, so don't hesitate to connect and be nice.
Crossing the boundaries of stereotypes
Bad reputations are hard to forget and Americans are victims of many prejudices that are sometimes true, but in many others, not at all. In the United States you will meet many more people interested in other cultures and eager to learn than you think. Even cities will know how to surprise you with their diversity of cultures (Mexican, European, Creole, Asian) and make you have a great time. Keep your eyes open and a positive attitude when it comes to discovering true American culture, a culture that goes far beyond the misleading images that Hollywood conveys.
When to travel to the United States?
The United States covers such a large territory that it is difficult to define the best time of year to travel. It will depend a lot on the region we visit. Americans are on vacation during the summer, so be aware that many places can be crowded.
