The 7 reasons to go to Ireland!
Between its magnificent natural landscapes and its unique culture, Ireland has many reasons to tempt you. But if you have to choose, the warmth of its people, its literary heritage and its wild regions surrounded by the sea seem the most basic.
Travel to the land of literature
Ireland is a land rich in literary genius and from the streets of Dublin to the wilds, the spirits of writers still roam to give you some inspiration. With a book in hand, visit the country of James Joyce, Yeats and Oscar Wilde.
Discover a country open to the sea
If you prefer the sea instead of inland, Ireland has everything to surprise you. Most of the major tourist cities are on the sea and the traditional economy of the island attaches so much importance to the ocean that it is felt even in the inland strands.
Taste the best whiskey
Along with Scotland and Japan, according to connoisseurs, Ireland is the country that any self-respecting whiskey lover should visit to taste its best vintages. If strong alcohol isn't your thing, Ireland is also a beer specialist. If a visit to a distillery doesn't appeal to you, you can always go to the Guinness breweries in Dublin or Kilkenny.
Discover a fascinating culture
Ireland is one of the few regions of Western Europe that was left out of Roman colonization. The country has managed to maintain its Celtic roots and wears them proudly as a symbol of its identity and its unique and fascinating history. Much more than the language, spoken more and more between them, it is a palette of traditions that the Irish perpetuate and keep alive as a proof of their love for their homeland.
Go on an adventure for a sightseeing trip
To discover Ireland, nothing better than setting out on an adventure without predetermined routes, with a backpack, why not by bicycle, and go from town to town to sleep in a tent or in youth hostels, one of the most comfortable in Europe. You can also take the bus or train from Dublin to Cork and then to Limerick and Galway, and get to the Connemara National Park. One thing is certain, if you only plan to visit one place, you will quickly want to see a lot more.
Socialize with a hospitable people
The Irish are a people especially proud of their rich history and culture, which they are always eager to share. They are, therefore, no more chauvinistic than anyone else and, without a doubt, they will welcome you warmly, so much so that they will infect you with their sociability. To interact with them, nothing better than spending a few hours in a pub, where the atmosphere is quite different from the bars we know, much warmer. With a little effort, you will only have to overcome the language barrier, which will undoubtedly be the most difficult.
Admire its magnificent landscapes
Irish landscapes are known for their beauty and live up to their fame, especially if you go in the summer. The Emerald Isle gets its nickname for the peculiar color of its hills and valleys. Even if you plan to travel only to the larger cities, it only takes a few minutes by car or train to find yourself in the middle of the countryside or to reach the coast. Howth is less than half an hour from Dublin and its cliffs overlook the Irish Sea.
When to travel to Ireland?
The best time to visit Ireland are the months between May and September, when temperatures are higher and it doesn't rain (at least, not too much). In winter the days are too short to make the most of the trip. Of course, I must warn you that regardless of the time of year you visit Ireland, you will most likely get a few drops.
