The 4 reasons to go to Georgia!
Forget the images you may have about a former Soviet country, whose landscape is summarized in large empty boulevards and sad apartment blocks. You will be amazed by the breathtaking landscapes, the historical monuments and the warm welcome from Georgians.
The wealth of cultural heritage
Regarded as one of the first Christian countries in the world, Georgia is packed with an impressive religious heritage. There it is not surprising that the churches are from the 4th or 5th century, which also produces the birth of a very particular architectural trend. Like their Armenian neighbors, Georgian churches have their own style. Georgia also has an architectural heritage halfway between East and West, where finely crafted wooden corridors are found along the houses that overlook small gardens or avenues.
The variety of landscapes
It is difficult to imagine that such a small country is filled with such a great variety of landscapes. While the surroundings of Tbilissi are nothing out of the ordinary, you only need to get away from the capital a bit to discover other worlds. To the east are the hills and forests between which the Georgians have planted their vines, giving this region a certain Italian flair. A little further east, the landscape becomes drier and the steppe begins to appear. On the contrary, in the north the Caucasus mountain range and its peaks that sometimes reach 5,000 meters, offer impressive landscapes. In the west, the proximity of the Black Sea has given rise to a subtropical climate difficult to imagine in this region of the planet. Finally, in the south, forests predominate here and there, as well as hot springs such as the famous Borjomi.
Georgian gastronomy
It is something that we do not expect and when we uncover it, it suddenly leaves us with a very pleasant flavor. Georgia will delight the fine palates. It is difficult to make a list with so many dishes with many unpronounceable names, however, we have to admit that it is a very varied cuisine. Between cheese breads (khatchapouri), coriander-spiced beef stews (odjakuri) and local ravioli (khinkali), you are sure to find happiness. And for vegetarians, there is no need to worry, as many of the entrees are made entirely from vegetables. But talking about Georgia is also talking about wine, whose traditional production methods (in pots) and the original 500 varieties will pique your interest.
The hospitality of the inhabitants
On your tour of Georgia, don't be surprised if your table neighbors come over to drink with you, or if strangers you haven't exchanged a single word with invite you to lunch. Hospitality is one of the great values of Georgian culture and its inhabitants seem to be especially ingrained to it. That makes the trip more pleasant, since it is understood that behind a particularly rich cultural heritage, there is a very endearing town.
